RX 580 vs GTX 1060 Frame Time Analysis – Rise of the Tomb Raider DX11 & DX12 [SYRIA]

Crystal Dynamics’ action-adventure video game was a timed exclusive release for XBox and then later arrived on PC and PS4. It even got DX12 support on PC, we are to benchmark the mainstream cards of AMD and NVIDIA on both APIs with very high quality preset on 1080p resolution.

There’s not much between the cards as both the RX 580 and the GTX 1060 performs equally well. The low-level explicit API can squeeze out a couple of FPS more on the AMD card whereas the NVIDIA card shows subtle loss with DirectX 12. Overall, text-book frame times on both cards and both APIs. One have to wonder why developers find it necessary to support 2 APIs as there’s no performance benefit or additional eye-candy for the gamer to enjoy.
