Ryzen 3 1200 vs i3-7100 Frame Time Analysis w/ R9 Nano - Rise of the Tomb Raider DX11 & DX12 [MISSING GRANDPA]

With the release of Ryzen 3 AMD re-entered the ~100$ CPU market with two 4 core models. The new SKUs, the Ryzen 3 1200 and Ryzen 3 1200X are targeting Intel's i3 based Kaby Lake CPUs. For this benchmarking session we are using the i3-7100 and Ryzen 3 1200 paired with the R9 Nano with our mITX systems in Rise of the Tomb Raider (DX11-DX12).

Despite the i3-7100 features a 0.8 GHz clockspeed advantage, the new Ryzen 3 1200 performs better with both DX11 and DX12. Plus, with 1080p and very high settings the R9 Nano shows that DX12 could bring additional performance to the table. The native quad core Ryzen 3 SKUs could bring real competition to the Core i3 models and may even fair well with a slight OC against the locked i5 models.
