Gears of War 4 was one of the first major AAA titles to support DX12 and promote Windows 10. The Coalition has recently released a large update for the game, so the time is just perfect to see how well the current line of mainstream GPUs perform. We are using the game's built-in benchmark for the evaluation at 1080p and Ultra preset.
1080p ultra is not the big ask for these GPUs, the frame rates are well above 60 FPS. If it weren’t for the occasional frame time spikes on the GTX 1060 in the first sequence, the results would be much closer to each other. Overall, the RX 580 is around 7% faster. We would love to test the actual gameplay as well as it is way more better looking than the visually bland benchmark. mGPU testing is on our radar as well, if we can get 1440p / 4K resolution to function properly with the Scaled Resolution slider. Right now, modifying it forces the game to v-sync mode.

In the previous upload the quality settings were messed up for the RX 580. Switching GPUs dialled back some graphics options to high, although the main quality preset stayed on ultra. The huge performance delta between the cards should have rung some alarm bells, sorry for the mistake!
