GTX 1060 vs RX 480 Frame Time Analysis - Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation DX11 & DX12 [BENCHMARK]

Ashes of the Singularity, the real-time strategy game that features enormous number of units, massive terrains with impressive visuals, was the first major game to be released with thorough DX11 & DX12 benchmark tool. To tackle the immense CPU workloads Oxide developed the Nitrous Engine from scratch - the engine is capable of using all available processor cores for game logic, physics and AI.

This is the first time when the frame times are a bit messy, FX-8370 has a hard time processing all the tasks that are required to render the huge wars with that many units on display. GTX 1060 performs well - NVIDIA has fine-tuned their driver recently that led to DX12 improvements. Without question, DX12 saves the day for the RX 480. Will be revisiting AotS in the coming months as the devs are planning to add Vulkan API to the game!
