GTX 1060 vs RX 480 Frame Time Analysis - Rise of the Tomb Raider DX11 & DX12 [BENCHMARK]

Our third take on the RX 480 vs GTX 1060 series tests the GPUs with Rise of the Tomb Raider, an action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics, supporting both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 APIs.

As the results suggest the scene changes introduce noticeable frame variance and unpredictability, especially in the last scene - it was hard to capture consistent results from run to run. Additionally, the Mountain Peak sequence is quite imbalanced as the camera moves around the main character - initially with only Lara in focus and gradually showing up the snowy mountains around her. It's hard to pick which vendor / API has the upper hand using only the game's built-in benchmark - 1080p, very high preset with SMAA and Ambient Occlusion was used.
